Research Station Facilities

Thinnai Organic in partnership with the NGO Center for Children’s Happiness (CCH) is offering research station facilities for international research students in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka. Thinnai Organic is the leading agritourism operator in the northern province, Sri Lanka and is situated in the fertile land of Chunnakam, 7 km from the University of Jaffna; the farm engages in various agricultural and animal husbandry activities. In addition to that, it also provides tented accommodation, food and beverage services and an active entertainment center. The Northern province has many rural villages, a rich culture and a history spanning several hundred years. Furthermore, it is home to rich biodiversity with a protected area the Chundikulam National Park, several lagoons, many small islands and the longest coastline in the country.

The province faced thirty years of conflict which ended in 2009, opening up a gateway to an array of research opportunities, especially within the field of natural science, e.g., related to vegetation, bird life, marine life, coastal ecosystems and geology and social science, e.g., anthropology, archaeology, economics, education, geography, history, linguistics and sociology. CCH comes with years of experience in conducting research and engaging in socioeconomic interventions in the Northern Province to facilitate such research.
